A note from Carolyn Makinson, Executive Director…
Dear
Friends,
The Women’s Refugee Commission is proud of the work we do every day to improve the lives of millions of displaced women and children. This year we made great strides, but so much more remains to be done. Your generous donations make the work possible.
As the situation worsens for refugees in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, millions of women and children live under constant threat of violence. For many, basic needs are not met; they have no way to earn a living, no training, limited reproductive health care and inadequate education.
The Women’s Refugee Commission does whatever it takes to protect some of the world’s most vulnerable people. We conduct research, publish data and fight for change. We provide the road map to solutions and the building blocks that make it possible for on-the-ground aid workers to implement the changes that help improve lives.
Here’s how your donations can help:
- $5,000 covers the costs of a two-week research mission to meet with refugees who have returned to Liberia.
- $1,000 disseminates a report on the situation of Burmese refugees in Thailand.
- $500 pays for a refugee youth advisor to attend an advocacy skills training workshop.
- $250 hires an interpreter and vehicle for two days of field research.
- $100 covers the cost of satellite telephone service for a research delegation in Darfur.
- $50 pays to translate interviews with refugees in northern Uganda.
Your continued support is needed now more than ever. Won't you join us and do whatever it takes to protect women and children refugees? Your generous tax-deductible gift can make a real difference in the lives of those who need it the most.
Sincerely,

Carolyn Makinson
Executive Director
