Sarah Chynoweth, Program Manager, Reproductive Health program
Sarah Chynoweth has been the Reproductive Health Program
Manager at the Women's Commission for Refugee Women and Children since 2005.
From 2003 to 2004 she was a program specialist/intern in that program. She
holds a Master of Arts in Human Rights, focusing on women’s health,
from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Sarah
is the cofounder of a small nongovernmental organization, Circle of Health
International (COHI), which provides reproductive health services in resource
poor settings. In addition, she directed COHI’s Tibet project, in which
she conceptualized, designed, implemented and managed culturally appropriate
maternal and child health trainings for nomadic women and girls in rural Tibet.
Her professional experiences include health and gender-related projects in
Sudan, Tibet/China, Jordan, Palestine/Israel, Nepal, Thailand, Romania, Malta
and Germany. Sarah is a certified carpenter, speaks rudimentary Tibetan and
is originally from Germany.
