Mary Jane Escobar-Collins is the Operations Officer at the Women’s Commission for Refugee Women and Children. MJ has been with the Women's Commission since 2001 and is responsible for managing and overseeing various office administration and operational systems, including the handling of security for staff traveling oversees and all recruitment efforts for staff, consultants and interns. She also liaises and works directly with the Women’s Commission’s Programs and Board of Directors to plan locations and themes for board delegations. MJ's responsibilities have not been limited to office management and administration. In June 2007, she participated in a mission to Amman, Jordan to look at the Iraqi Crisis which focused on the reproductive health needs of Iraqi refugee women and youth and to identify broader Iraqi protection needs. She has also provided research and logistical support across programs on special projects, such as the Age, Gender and Diversity Mainstreaming Project and Trafficking in Refugee Women and Girls Project, and served as the focal point for the Crisis in Sudan Project. MJ holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from Schiller International University in Paris, France and a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of Illinois. She lives on the upper east side of Manhattan.
