Marsha Zeesman, Director of Strategic Affairs
Marsha Zeesman joined the Women's Commission for Refugee Women and Children in December 2007 as Director of Strategic Affairs. In this position she manages the development and communications teams. Marsha comes from five years at the American Civil Liberties Union where she was Director of Campaigns & Special Projects. There, she coordinated and oversaw the ACLU's "Keep America Safe and Free" campaign, traveling to Pakistan in 2002 to interview men who had been detained in the U.S. after 9/11. She was responsible for the development, production, marketing and community outreach for "The Freedom Files," a TV series that aired on Court TV and currently airs on public television. She also oversaw a variety of other advocacy projects, including ACLU's youth marketing and communications program. Before that, Marsha worked on the media team at Unicef headquarters and then at the U.S. Fund for Unicef as Managing Director, Public Relations and Communications, overseeing media, publications and celebrity relations. She also produced television documentaries for independent producer Alvin H. Perlmutter, Inc. and Consumer Reports Television. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
